‘De Gea doesn’t want to play for United’ – Van Ga
Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has claimed that goalkeeper David De Gea did not want to play against Tottenham last week in the latest twist in the pair’s stand-off.
De Gea was left out of the squad for United’s 1-0 win over Spurs and will not be involved in Friday evening’s match against Aston Villa.
Van Gaal revealed last week that De Gea would be sidelined until the close of the transfer window, claiming that the Spaniard has been distracted by the lingering interest from Real Madrid.
But he went a step further in the lead-up to United’s match against Villa by informing reporters that De Gea did not wish to play in the opening game of the season.
“We talked with him (De Gea) and he fully agreed with our decision,” Van Gaal said.
“I have one assistant coach and another assistant coach so we speak about that kind of thing together.
